ABOUT HSUC

Welcome to “the beach!” Since 1927 our church has proudly stood at the corner of Queen St and Main St, a beacon of faith on the way to the shores of beautiful Lake Huron. In 2104 we amalgamated two congregations and became what we are today: welcoming, open, warm and faithful. Come and find your place with us – whether you are new in Grand Bend, cottaging for the summer, or seeking a church which reflects who you are. You will find a liberal theology, a diverse congregation where LGBTQ issues are respected, a scriptural emphasis in preaching, and a choir that loves to sing. In the summer we continue the “Green Cathedral” tradition of worshiping outdoors under our maple trees. Currently, we are renovating for the future, investing over $1.3 million in accessibility, so that everyone can be part of this community of faith. You belong with us!
Our Church is in the Heart of Town - Historic red brick building, constructed in 1927, has a brand new zinc roof. Renovations are planned to make it usable seven days a week.
Green Cathedral – In July and August we worship under the trees. Special guest musicians add to this causal worship that attracts tourists from all over the world.
Best Parking In Grand Bend – it’s free beside the church. Visitors make donations and 100% goes to help people in the community who have emergencies – hydro, water, heat, food, etc.
Grand Bend – one of Canada’s ten best beaches, is on the shores of beautiful Lake Huron – Ontario’s west coast. A population of 6,000 quadruples during summer. A Community Health Centre, Fine-A-Restaurant plus other eateries, elementary school, golf courses, Pinery Provinical Park, summer farmers’ market, and the famous Huron Country Playhouse. Huron Shores United Church is a brand new name
Grand Bend United Church and Greenway United Church, a few miles inland, were part of one pastoral charge until June, 2014. Greenway closed its doors in a beautiful celebration on the 29th. Their rich history will live on in the proposed Greenway Chapel. Forty-eight new names were suggested and the amalgamated congregation settled on this new name for this truly united congregation – Huron Shores UC.
